Motor Cycle, Scooter, Moped, Trike and Sports Bikes, wheather your bike is your main form of daily transport or it's used at weekends, having the best bike insurance is crucial. Some policies will cover your helmet and leathers.
There are three options available to you as far as motorbike insurance goes: Third Party, Third Party Fire & Theft and Fully Comprehensive.
Third Party is the cheapest form of Bike Insurance - it offers the basic cover that is required by Law to legally drive a motorbike on the road. This type of policy will only pay out for damage caused to someone else or their vehicle.
Third Party Fire & Theft - This Type of policy will cover damage caused to someone else, their vehicle as well as your own bike should it be stolen or destroyed by fire.
Fully Comprehensive - This is the most expensive type of policy and is advisable to have should your Bike be worth alot or have a higher spec. This policy works in the same way as Third Party Fire & Theft, but will also cover you for repair of your own bike and may well offer your a wide range of extras.
Modifications you make to your bike can affect your premiums as well as a claim. If you have more than one Motorbike it can sometimes work out cheaper to open a multi-bike policy, you should always ensure that your bike has an approved lock, alarm an immobiliser or data tag system and be fully aware of any excess tied into your policy, as with car insurance the higher you are willing the excess to be, the lower your insurance premium will be.
