Banned Breeds
There are some breeds of dogs that are banned in the UK
Japanese Tosa
Dogo Argentino
Fila Braziliero
Pit Bull Terrier
You can get a serious fine if you are found to be owning one of the above breeds of dog. You could get a £5,000 fine and/or 6 months in prison.
If your dog is deemed dangerous to the public it may be destroyed unless the courts use the Dangerous Dogs Act to exempt it because they believe the dog would not cause any harm to public safety at all. However before this exemption can take place your dog may be seized first.
