Pet Health

Vaccinating your pet against serious diseases is always advisable. Vaccines are usually first given to pups from the age of six weeks of age. A single yearly booster is then given to ensure their imune system is topped up. It is essential to ensure that your pup is filly vaccinated before you allow it to come into contact with other dogs as they may be carriers of diseases.
Diseases that are covered by vaccination:
Canine Parvovirus : this attacks the immune system and the lining of the intestines, it causes diarrhoea and vimiting and it can iften be fatal especially in pups.
Canine Distemper : Attacks the gut, nervous system and lungs, it is usually fatal.
Infectious Canine Hepatitis : Attacks liver, lungs, kidneys and eyes, some cases can be fatal.
Canine Parainfluenza : A virus which is very infectious amonst dogs, causes a dry hacking cough, associated with 'kennel cough'.
Leptospirosis : Bacteria that is caught from water-courses containing rat urine, this type of bacteria can also be caught from the urine of already infected dogs. Can be fatal or cause long term kidney damage.

Cats and dogs often catch fleas, parasites who's saliva is considered to be extemely allergenic. Flea bites can cause skin disease in your pet known as 'Flea Allergic Dermatitis'. Very bad cases of flea infestation can cause anaemia in your pet, and very small puppys or kittens can die, so it's very important that your pet is regularly treated with flea prevention treatments.
